Can you take money from an annuity before applying for a personal loan?

An annuity may offer a partial withdrawal, surrender, scheduled payment, or another contract election. Obtain the insurer’s current payment calculation before borrowing elsewhere.

An annuity contract may provide cash before you borrow

If you own an annuity, the insurer may offer a partial withdrawal, surrender, scheduled payment, loan feature, or another contract election. Review the current contract before you assume a personal loan is the only route to the cash you need.

Start with the contract type, owner, annuitant, issue date, current account value, surrender-period language, riders, payment status, and the amount you want. The contract value alone does not show what the insurer will pay after charges or adjustments.

Ask for a payment calculation for the exact transaction

A partial withdrawal can leave a contract in force, while a surrender can end it. An annuitized contract can use a different payment election. Ask the insurer to name the transaction, state the gross amount it will pay, identify any charge or adjustment, and provide the current payment illustration or calculation.

The insurer’s transaction record and tax form are separate from the contract calculation. Keep the statement, payment illustration, withdrawal or surrender form, confirmation, and later tax record together.

Review the annuity route before adding a loan payment

A contract payment route can be reviewed alongside a proposed personal loan without treating either as automatic. One is governed by the annuity contract and its payment calculation; the other creates borrowing and repayment terms. The current insurer materials establish whether the contract can provide the cash amount under consideration.

Distribution Wise can review the annuity statement, payment illustration, contract route, and transaction records before you submit the insurer request.
